Face Painting with children and staff @ EAM

Children had fun with face painter, Frank Varela at the Esperanza Acosta Library. Top requests were Hello Kitty, spiders, flowers and dragons. Frank is a librarian and poet. He comes from an artistic family. Although writing is his first passion, drawing provides another avenue for his artistic expression.

Turtles, Turtles at Esperanza Acosta

For the third year in a row, Max Soto has shared his love and knowledge of turtles with the children at EAM

The children enjoyed hearing about the care of turtles and touching them. Some children would reach out to touch the turtles, but then pulled their hands away.

Gabriel Gaytan, El Paso Artist

Children were exposed to a creative learning experience with El Paso artist, Gabriel Gaytan on June 30, 2011.

Gabriel Gaytan explained part of his creativity by stating, "I explore my cultural heritage through images and symbols...It is this embrace with fire, air, water, and earth that I explore through my art.”

Fun at EAM with Gabriel Gaytan

Gabriel Gaytan, El Paso Artist, taught the children
at EAM's Summer Reading Club how to draw fantastic creatures in Mayan style. The children drew pictures using parts of different animals to create their own unique drawing.
