Esperanza Acosta Moreno Regional Library winner of two YALSA/Dollar Literacy Summer Reading Grants


The Esperanza Acosta Moreno Branch of the El Paso Public Library has been awarded two $1,000 grants by the Young Adult Library  Services Association (YALSA) , a division of the American Library Association.  These grants are funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and will be used to create  innovative Summer Reading Programs for teens including the hiring and training of teen interns.  These grants will provided opportunities for teens to create, illustrate, and possibly publish their own graphic novels. Registration is required to participate in the Summer Reading Program for additional information, please call 921-7001 or visit www.elpasolibrary.org

Free Comic Book Day was a success at EAM


Free Comic Book Day was a success at the Esperanza Acosta Moreno Regional Library over 500 people came to the library and over 100 comics were given out. Free Comic Book Day is a national event ocurring on May 5th. The purpose of this event is to promote the scope and diversity of modern comics.  These comics were generously provided  by Diamond Distributors, Inc. and Smoking Rack Comics located at 3350 Wedgewood Drive #1
 in El Paso, TX.
